Which ITF rules apply?
This guide is based on the ITF at itftkd.sport, Official Rules of Competition 2026-1 for the World Championships and World Cup. Confirm the organisation and event with your club; the abbreviation ITF alone does not identify every organiser's requirements. Norwegian events must also be checked against the NKF competition rules and the invitation.

Sparring equipment
- Hand and foot protectors and the headguard must be red or blue according to the competitor's position in the draw.
- The mouthguard must be transparent and colourless. A groin guard is compulsory for men and is worn under the dobok.
- Shin protection is optional under these international rules and is worn under the trousers. Chest protection and groin guards for women are also listed as optional.
- Protective equipment, except the mouthguard and groin guard, must be competition-approved models from an official ITF supplier.

Dobok and approved models
T6 requires an officially approved ITF dobok. Appendix 2 describes the uniform; T7 and appendix 8 cover the equipment. Approved models and suppliers should be stated in the event invitation and on the ITF website. Always compare the item number and marking, not just the supplier's name.
Children and Norwegian competitions
Ask the coach to confirm the correct class and equipment list before you buy. Do not apply an international rule about optional protection directly to a child's training or a Norwegian event. Find the Norwegian ITF rules at NKF.
NTN Taekwondo and TOP TEN
NTN Taekwondo is the largest ITF section in Norway, and Combat Store is the proud equipment supplier to NTN with ITF-approved equipment from TOP TEN.
NTN has its own brand of beginner equipment and uniforms, but you are welcome to use TOP TEN if you prefer. There is no requirement for the uniform or equipment to carry the NTN brand. If you need equipment for ITF Taekwon-do, TOP TEN is the safest and best choice.
TOP TEN and the ITF
Combat Store is the exclusive Norwegian distributor of TOP TEN. The brand has a long connection with the ITF; TOP TEN is also documented in the ITF approval list from 2016. When buying, however, we go by the current rules and model information.
TOP TEN offers both doboks and protective equipment for ITF Taekwon-do. Budoland lists, among others, the «Kyong» and «De-Luxe» doboks and the «Glossy Block ITF» gloves as ITF products. See the manufacturer's ITF range and model information.
Choose the dobok and protection separately according to the event requirements. A foot protector carrying both WAKO and ITF marking does not mean the rest of the equipment set automatically suits both sets of rules. Check the model, colour and any supplier list in the invitation.
For club purchases it helps to distinguish between doboks for training, uniforms for patterns and equipment for sparring. The coach should confirm the requirements for grade, uniform design and competition class before ordering.

How to recognise the approval mark

Compare the marking on your model with the documentation and the current event requirements. The image shows a documented example; placement and design may vary between products. Feel free to take a photo of the label and item number when you ask your club or us.
Checklist before buying and competing
- Identify the event, rules, discipline and class together with your coach.
- Check the exact model and item number, colour, size and any required label. A brand name alone is not sufficient documentation.
- Compare the product information with the federation's approval and the event invitation. Ask for documentation if anything is unclear.
- Confirm what the organiser provides and what you need to bring yourself. Try the equipment before the event.
For clubs and buyers
Make an equipment list per discipline and class before a group order. Record the model, variant, documentation link and date checked. Keep competition equipment separate from other training equipment, and check fit and wear before lending it out. If requirements are unclear, send the organiser the model number and a photo of the label before you order.
Training, competition and product marking
For training, the choice of equipment should be agreed with your coach based on the drills and level of contact. A competition mark does not replace this assessment. The guide explains the rules; the product's own documentation must show what applies to the chosen variant. A clickable badge in the shop is a route to information, not a new certificate.
