To get the best training, it is important to choose the right gear. That applies to boxing gloves too! Here is a guide to the different types of boxing gloves to help you choose the right gloves for your training.
Sparring gloves
If you train boxing with others, sparring gloves are probably what you will use most. They are well suited to sparring and pad work, and have good padding to protect your opponent.
Choose a pair that suits your style, and make sure you choose a pair in the right weight (oz) for you.
Fight gloves
If you are going to fight, separate gloves apply. You often don't buy these yourself; the event organiser provides gloves that the competitors must use. They have less padding than sparring gloves.
Fights have their own rules, but you can still train with a pair of fight gloves to get used to the feel. This type of glove can also be a good alternative to bag gloves.

Fitness gloves
Fitness gloves, or boxing gloves for workouts, are simpler gloves that are not made specifically for boxers. They don't have the same properties as sparring gloves, but can be handy if you only do a little boxing as part of your training routine. They can also work well as boxing gloves for children.
Appearance
You can't always tell boxing gloves apart, or what use they are suited to. So find out what kind of glove it is before you choose.
Price
By and large, you get what you pay for. A cheap glove is more simply constructed and uses cheaper materials. A more expensive glove has more details you will come to appreciate, and is made of materials that withstand more and protect you better.
Brand
It is also important to consider the brand of the boxing gloves – a well-known brand such as VENUM or TOP TEN, highly recognised for quality, can make better gloves for the same price than just any fitness equipment manufacturer. It is also worth checking tests and reviews from other people using the gloves to get an impression of the quality.
